Young Life Beach Cities is seeking a new full-time staff associate or area director. There is excellent history in this area and incredible potential to grow and expand much more with the leadership of the right person. Specific opportunities include the development of Young Life in a diverse setting with public schools while overseeing part-time staff.

LA Beach Cities is an amazing place, located along the coast of Los Angeles it has the heart of beach living with the metropolitan buzz of a city. This Young Life area comprises Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach and Torrance. There are more than 22,000 kids to be reached across 13 middle schools and 7 high schools. There is currently a very active committee, a growing base of financial support and two Young Life ministries currently. Redondo Union High Young Life is a thriving Club run by the area’s part time mission staff. Torrance is a volunteer run club primed for growth. Part of this exciting role will include building a culture and identity for this newly formed geographic Young Life area.

Note: Because of the missionary nature of this role, personal fundraising is required as a part of the employment process. Upon acceptance of the role, you will be expected to live within 5-10 miles of Redondo High School/Torrance West by the end of your first 6 months to 1 year. Responsibilities:

Spiritual Development – Creating and leading a spiritually healthy environment in which all those connected to Young Life grow in their faith.

Leadership Development – Supervise, support and encourage part-time staff person. Recruiting, training and supporting a team of volunteers to serve as leaders and committee members.

Resource Development/Fundraising – Raising personal support as well as partnering with the committee to raise budgeted revenue.

• Raising personal support from the employees' network ($25,000)

• Working with the committee on area support/fundraising events.

Direct Ministry – “Proclaiming and modeling” includes contact work, club, Campaigners and camp. Actively engage in all three levels of contact work.

Ministry Support – Work with the local committee to build community connections and support the overall organization of the area. Practice excellence in administration and communication.

Training – This person will report to the regional director and will be expected to participate in regional and national training events.

Qualifications:

• A deep and growing faith in Jesus.

• A call to reach students with the Gospel.

• Proven leadership skills.

• Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.

• Recent youth ministry experience (seventh through 12th grade).

• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

• Completion of a college degree preferred.

• Completion of Young Life Staff Associate training preferred or another relevant training equivalent.

• Willingness to raise personal financial support ($25,000).
