Area Director I — Henderson, KY

Department: Midwestern Division
Location: , KY

Description of Local Area/Community: 

  • Henderson County is an established area started 20+ years ago.. Financially stable with 12+ since our last deficit. Committee is small but faithful. Leaders are career and no current college students. The area supports one High School with 2,000 students and 2 middle schools.

Responsibilities:

    Spiritual Growth and Responsibilities

  • Has a relationship with Jesus Christ and is actively growing in ways outside of the Young Life ministry

  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life including time for solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer, and a sincere commitment to understanding God’s Word

  • Actively engage in a local church

  • Adheres to Young Life’s Faith and Conduct policies for staff people

    Volunteer Leader Development/Direct Ministry:

  • Recruit, create, develop, train, and lead a team of volunteers to actively pursue middle school and high school students. 

  • Develop ministry at Henderson County High School and maintain relationships with North and South Middle School.

  • Coordinate Capernaum, Young Lives,Wyldlife Clubs, and being at  HS Clubs and Campaigners 

  • Create and implement a year-round camping strategy including camp fundraisers, inviting students, training leaders, and attending summer camps.

    Adult Engagement: (Committee)

  • Develop current Committee and recruit and train additional Committee Members

  • Build relationships and network with key adults within the Henderson community (school administration, faculty, staff)

  • Participates as an active member in the local Henderson community

    Resource Development 

  • Fundraise a personal goal and cultivate a personal donor base 

  • Communicate and thank donors regularly

  • Partner with local Committees in working annual banquet held most years in September.

National, Divisional, and Regional Responsibilities

  • Pursues National, Divisional, and Regional Trainings as assigned.  Travels when necessary throughout the year.

  • Attends month-long assignments at Young Life properties in the summer when assigned. 

  • Is an active part of a Regional Dream Team throughout the year. This is a group of staff who either put on an event or enhance strategy in the Region.

  • Reports to the ARD and Regional Director.

  • Some of these responsibilities require travel, overnight stays, etc. throughout the year.  

Qualifications: (i.e. College Degree preferred, Young Life Staff Experience, etc.): 

  • Proven relational skills with both students and adults

  • Must be a self-starter/initiator

  • Eager to learn and grow -- teachable 

  • Passionate about the Lord and teenagers

  • Willingness to participate in many night/weekend events

  • Creativity in making events, meetings, and gatherings fun

  • College Degree preferred

  • Young Life experience (staff or volunteer) preferred
