WyldLife Director - Greater Lafayette

Description

Located in a thriving Big Ten community, the Greater Lafayette Area (with a strong 35+ year history of YL activity) is seeking a person to lead and further develop an established WyldLife ministry. The Area has an engaged central committee, active ministry and leadership teams in four high schools and three middle schools (with students attending from four additional area schools), and a total of 80+ college-aged leaders who staff the seven ministry teams. Most leaders are Purdue students who go through a formal process of training, screening, and interviewing before being placed on a specific ministry team. The combined leadership teams form a strong community of faith and friendship. Individual ministry teams are a focus for creative collaboration, personal development, spiritual growth, vibrant ministry, and deep friendships. Greater Lafayette is led by a Senior Area Director who is directly involved in all aspects of ministry, from leader training to outreach contact work, with a strong track record of developing associate staff and student staff. Under the guidance and supervision of the AD, the WyldLife Director will plan, implement, and oversee all aspects of the WyldLife ministries and leadership teams, as outlined below.

Responsibilites

  • In partnership with Area Director, recruit, train, develop, and supervise all WyldLife student staff and ministry leaders.
  • Raise a designated portion of the WyldLife budget through personal support.
  • Develop and maintain strategic community relationships with administrators, teachers, youth pastors, parents, committee members, donors, et al.
  • Active promotion, implementation, and participation in summer camping.
  • Complete administrative tasks associated with WyldLife ministries.
  • Complete required Young Life Training courses as outlined by the Young Life National Training Department.
  • Be familiar and in compliance with all national Young Life guidelines and policies.

Qualifications

  • Vibrant relationship with Christ that is both mature and growing, including faithful participation in a local church body.
  • Completion of Young Life Staff Associate Training preferred.
  • 3-5 years ministry experience (WyldLife or similar middle school context preferred).
  • Strong desire to work and participate in a multi-staff team setting.
  • Desire & ability to lead multiple WyldLife leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize various ministry responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated relational skills with both adolescents and adults.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated administrative management skills.
  • Commitment to develop college students into effective WyldLife ministry leaders.
  • Desire to work with and develop college-aged leaders.
  • 4 year college degree preferred.
