Camping Services Administrative Assistant III

Department: Camping Services
Location: Colorado Springs, CO

As a follower of Jesus Christ and a minister of His Gospel, model a full understanding of Young Life’s ministry strategy and equip and lead a team of staff in providing excellent camping experiences for individuals to encounter Jesus Christ and know the truth of God’s love for them.

Department Specific: “Through both formal training and direct experience, learn how to effectively carry out and manage the responsibilities of the Camping Services Administration Supervisor role. This position will support the operational aspects of Camping Services with the use of strong organizational, relational, administrative and communication skills. This position will represent Young Life and the Camping department in a Christ-centered, relational, and professional manner while partnering with Young Life Field, Camping, and Mission Services.

 

 

Essential Duties:

Spiritual Formation: Intentionally provide opportunities for staff to grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus.

  • Participate in opportunities for growing deeper in your relationship with Jesus.

  • With direction from supervisor, develop an annual personal spiritual growth plan.

  • Foster an environment where department staff has opportunities for ongoing spiritual development, including execution of their spiritual growth plan.

  • Actively participate and contribute in department devotional and prayer times.

Interpersonal Relationships: Help build relationships that reflect the character of God with guests, staff, vendors, and neighbors to foster a healthy community.

  • Lead and support camping staff in the field and Camping Services, by assisting with needs such as camping inquiries and camping services projects.

  • Foster relationships with Administrative Managers as well as individuals in area, regional and divisional leadership.

  • Partner with the Manager of Camping Administration to collaborate and communicate consistent information.

  • Operate as an ambassador for Young Life, Camping Services and Camping Services Administration to all customers.

Attentive Hospitality: Equip servant leaders who anticipate and respond to the needs of our guests, staff, and vendors, through Christ-like service.

  • Demonstrate a posture of service that anticipates guest needs and responds with professionalism through intentional decisions and systems.

  • Offer hospitality to all camp guests, whether in-person, over the telephone or in writing

  • Maintain professional written and verbal communication to serve staff, guests, and vendors

Comprehensive Stewardship: Manage with integrity the finances, people, buildings and equipment that have been entrusted to our ministry.

  • Manage with integrity the finances, people, buildings and equipment that have been entrusted to our ministry through Camping Services Administration.

  • Coordinate camp sell design and execution process.

  • Create and maintain camping administration content on the Young Life staff website.

  • Create and maintain camping administration content for public consumption on younglife.org

  • Steward collection and distribution of information that is collected via forms and evaluations to encourage decisions and direction.

  • Partner with Risk Management and Legal Services to update field facing systems that interact with Camping.

  • Supporting the Manager of Camping Administration in editing, updating, publishing and communicating policy change.

  • Demonstrate high level and ground level understanding and of camp specific systems and tools (campRes, campView, allocation reports, etc.).

Talent Development: Through a consistent and accountable evaluation process, we identify and provide opportunities for staff in continuing education, leadership development, career-pathing, and cross-training.

  • Demonstrate a desire to grow through engagement in the Individual Development Plan process and participation in training and development opportunities.

  • Intentionally pursue opportunities in mission leadership, personal growth, and development.

  • Support the Manager of Camping Administration in the development of annual training processes for both in-personal and virtual training events.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of camping administrative operations to serve in absence of the Manager of Camping Administrative.

  • Execute daily responsibilities with attention to the standards and metrics required for excellent camp operations.

  • Manage Camping department job openings on Young Life website.

  • Support and lead the completion and implementation of Camping Administration related projects within and across departments.

  • Train on systems, processes, and policies for different levels of the organizational structure to ensure all customer groups are aligned and informed.

 

Camp or Job Specific Working Conditions:

  • Office environment.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent life experience.

Training Expectations:

  • Continual training expected for professional growth determined through the IDP process. 

  • Participate in Young Life Pace Call training

Qualifications and Experience Required For The Job:

  • Demonstrated proficiency and creativity with Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills.

  • Personal passion to know, love and follow Jesus Christ; Christ-like attitude of servant leadership.

  • High sense of calling to the mission of Young Life.

  • Professional demeanor and phone skills; strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to perform well amidst frequent interruptions in an open office setting.

  • Self-starter who works well as part of a team and follows through on assigned tasks.

  • Desire and ability to learn new software skills as needed.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage and prioritize concurrent tasks.
