Young Life/Wyldlife Staff Associate -Young Life (West Valley)

Description:

The San Fernando Valley is a large geographical area with a dense and diverse population. As of 2023 the population was 1,826,028, of which 42% were Latino, 39% White, 11% Asian and 4% African Americans. There is a great need for adolescents in the San Fernando Valley to be introduced to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Young Life West Valley has Capernaum, Young Life College, three high school Young Life clubs, and a collaboration with Hope Gardens (serving families experiencing homelessness). West Valley has existed since 2010 and is looking to continue a tradition of excellent incarnational ministry and focused discipleship. The current ministries are spread out across the valley from Chatsworth, down to Reseda and over to Sylmar.

Young Life West Valley is seeking a full-time employee as a Staff Associate for Young Life (high school) or Wyldlife (middle school). The Staff Associate would develop a new middle school or high school Young Life club in the San Fernando Valley. The West Valley schools we want to reach in the next three years are Lawrence middle school, Reseda middle school, Canoga Park high school, and Granada high school. Ministry Functions and Responsibilities:

Spiritual Development – Creating and leading a spiritually healthy environment in which all those connected to Young Life grow in their faith.

Leadership Development – Recruiting, training and supporting a team of volunteers to serve as leaders and committee members.

Resource Development/Fundraising – Raising personal support as well as partnering with the committee to raise budgeted revenue.

  • Raising personal support from the employees' network.
  • Working with the committee on area support/fundraising events.

Direct Ministry – This includes doing contact work, club, Campaigners and camp. It involves actively engaging in all three levels of contact work.

  • Lead a team to plan and conduct a new or existing Young Life club and Campaigners/discipleship ministry with excellence.
  • Lead a team to implement a summer and school-season camping strategy for a ministry.
  • Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp each year.

Ministry Support – Working with the local committee to build community connections and supporting the overall organization of the area. Practicing excellence in administration and communication.

Training – This person will be reporting to the area director and participating in regional and national training events.

Education:

  • College degree preferred.

Qualifications Required for the Job:

  • A deep and growing faith in Jesus.
  • A call to reach students with the Gospel.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Recent youth ministry experience (sixth through 12th grade).
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Willingness to raise personal financial support.
