Vision: Grow ministry in the city and nearby suburbs of Indianapolis by developing people and sustainable community oriented areas that will preach the Gospel and help join the revitalization to communities.
The next leader will report to Jonathon Gorny and work as part of a regional lead team. Our structure allows for a collaborative regional team and a close partnership with the Regional Director.
The next leader will build off of a strong foundation. We have an existing team of faithful, passionate, talented staff. The next leader will help this group grow in their structure and effectiveness. A core belief in the Raceway Region is that healthy, growing, dynamic people leads to healthy, growing, dynamic ministry. Developing people will be paramount for the next leader.
The gift set of the next leader will determine which of these receives their greatest attention but ultimately will be responsible for the following 5 categories:
Discipleship is local, active, and lived out. The next leader will help to establish a culture of discipleship that goes beyond Young Life involvement and permeates the needs of communities by raising up indigenous leadership and empowering communities to grow their ministries. Alongside the Regional Director, the next leader will work to establish local committees and teams of leaders that have a vision for reaching their communities with both the Gospel and the needs of the community.
Developing staff into the best leaders and ministers of the Gospel they are capable of becoming. The role overlaps spiritual leadership, professional development and performance management.
Our current staff are in the following areas:
IPS schools (currently in Arsenal Tech, Crispus Attucks, and Purdue Polytech)
Lawrence Township
Pike Township
Washington Township
Southport/Perry
Alongside staff, the next leader will develop healthy and effective committees including a close working relationship with current committee chairs focusing on the three catalysts for growth.
Identifying opportunities, developing committees, and helping to raise money in new communities where we don’t currently have Young Life. This will include healthy development within existing areas, starting new areas, and consideration of additional collaborative partnerships. This vision will be carried out in partnership with the Regional Director, leveraging regional assets to create sustainable growth through healthy development practices.
Sustainably funding ministry in both existing and new ministries will be an essential role of the ARD. This will be accomplished through a combination of;
Raising support for the ARD budget
Raising money for future developments as part of the regional fund
Equipping staff and committees to grow in their fundraising effectiveness
Serving on the team coordinating the annual fundraising GALA
Partnering with the Regional Director in the distribution of regional funds
Although our funding is far from perfect we have created a fund that impacts both the ability to build a team and the amount needed to be raised by the ARD for their budget.
Listening well to the staff, committees and communities, the next leader will continue and enhance the existing vision and culture as well as providing their God given vision and direction. We anticipate this to include recruiting new networks of indigenous leaders and staff and raising up local committees of adults and leaders from the community for the community. “Nothing for us, without us”
