Director of Developing Global Leaders

Department: Developing Global Leaders
Location: Colorado Springs, CO

To oversee and implement Young Life’s Developing Global Leaders program. To ensure the integrity and continued effectiveness of the program, by providing Christ centered leadership to fully fund all DGL students and support the program infrastructure.

Essential Duties

Lead the overall strategy and effort to fund the program

  • Oversee all DGL development campaigns and fundraising systems.
  • Report to VP of Development on DGL campaigns.
  • Work closely with international EVP, SVPs, and RDs along with the Development department to ensure that all current students are fully funded.
  • Develop and implement communication plan to all program donors in order to thank them and keep them informed about the program and their students.
  • Create new marketing and fundraising tools.
  • Serve as liaison with the Development Department.

Developing Global Leaders Program Management

  • Provide leadership to the overall direction and implementation of the Developing Global Leaders (DGL) program.
  • Develop strategies for the continual improvement of the DGL program mentoring, leader recruitment, leadership development, and training components.
  • Work with international vice presidents and regional directors to facilitate application process and select new classes of students.
  • Manage all DGL budgets to ensure positive cash flows and program sustainability.
  • Conduct onsite visits to evaluate program effectiveness, facilitate learning between programs, inform new strategies, and correct mission drift.
  • Oversee the DGL website maintenance and ongoing improvements.
  • Build necessary team to handle the work load for running an effective program.
  • Supervise administrative assistants, communication coordinators and other DGL team members.


  • Evaluate and improve metrics for the ongoing evaluation of program objectives for internal and external audiences.
  • Work with divisional teams to develop and execute a strategy for regional leadership trainings.
  • Work with divisional teams to recruit and train regional DGL coordinators.
  • Develop new initiatives for students and alumni that raise aptitude and work ability.
  • Create an alumni program to incentivize connectivity after graduation.


Working Conditions:

  • Office Environment
  • International and domestic travel required
  • Additional Fundraising to meet DGL team budgets required


  • Minimum of a B.A. from an accredited college.


Qualifications for the Job:

  • Proven relational skills with students, Young Life staff, and donors.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to manage and lead others.
  • Strategic thinking.
  • Must multi-task assigned projects autonomously to completion.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Must represent Young Life and the DGL program in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Understanding of international development challenges.
  • Ability to function in and communicate across many different cultures.
  • Previous volunteer and staff experience leading Young Life ministry.
